Suruchi Handbags was founded by Dena Hill who began designing and making her Suruchi bags in 1996. She purchased a yard of tapestry and made the first bag. A friend convinced Dena to make one for her and Suruchi Handbags was off and running. Dena’s handbag business continued to grow in popularity until Dena decided to retire. |
Mary McClain liked Dena’s handbags so much she acquired the business in 2010. Like Dena, Mary left the corporate world to pursue her passion for fashion designing and sewing. Mary’s interest in design was fostered by her heritage. Her father was as a manager of sewing operations and pattern design at a major apparel manufacturer and he supported her fashion creativity and design initiatives through the years. Mary owned a ladies apparel store for many years and as a result understands the retail cycle as a buyer and a manufacturer. Above all, Mary and her associates at Suruchi Designs, LLC are passionate about their work in the fashion industry.

Mary continues Dena’s attention to detail and artistic flair in designing and manufacturing our handbags. Each bag is completely and individually hand made in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area. It is our goal to provide you with fashionable, though not trendy, bags of the highest quality and versatility. |
| The name “Suruchi” is part
of a Hindu spiritual name, Atmo Suruchi, meaning “innermost
beautiful”. It fits the bags perfectly because of the popularity
of the inside pockets. |
